Theory of Diminishing Returns

What is a relationship? Any relationship is a medium by which two humans exchange virtues. These virtues are abstract events that triggers emotional response. Now, lets back up a bit. What are different kind of virtues, which these so called medium of relationship facilitates? Love, Respect, Care, Hate, Admire, Ignore, Subtlety etc are different virtues all present in a relationship. I will try to be a bit technical. In each relationship, there is a presence of almost all virtues possible, it is the distribution of these virtues which varies giving rise to various relationships. Examples are profound around us, the relationship between, mother and son contains far more love, care than diplomacy; a relationship of friendship is more of care, respect, admire than hate and so on and on. I have listed only few of these virtues. Equilibrium values in a relationship are the correct amount of virtues present in that relationship. Relationships require two people to work, it is the manner in...

The Valiant Venture to Varkala

Image
I woke at an unusual hour, when the day was still cold, when the entirety of the hostel was still aloof in dreamland. I had looked forward to this "waking" up for long. An amazing day was indeed ahead of this abrupt intermission of my sleep cycle. At around 7:30 AM, we ( Adithya , Anuj , Anurag , Avinash, Greeshma , Kaninika , Manasvi , & Rohit ) started on an exquisite journey, to Varkala . We were students of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology , which is located 28 km away from the frivolous city of Thiruvananthapuram. The first phase of onward journey was from college to station, which we was supposed to be a piece of cake, however we faced a minor setback when one of us suffering from motion sickness threw up, owing to the reckless bends in the road, which often is a consequence of hilly terrain. However, the person recovered and came out stronger. We reached Palayam, and had a thrifty breakfast at a vegetarian restaurant. We discussed the next pha...

Zionax Diaries - Part II

Cortisol, Testosterone & Adrenaline That is the holy 3 of hormones, and that is exactly what caused a chill go up in the spine of Zionax. He had seeked an ideal opportunity to impress his crush; from the perspective of the horny teenager, it was a golden opportunity. The jackass pulled out of the class astonishing the tutor, Abis followed as he got a peek at the text and knew that his buddy was incapable of handling it alone. Other teens were probably too engrossed to notice, the final act of the duo. Abis and Zionax, literally meant A-Z of friendship to the whole school, however 'Z' doesn't signify the end, sometimes destiny likes to signify beginning as the end. The evening was still breezy, evening dew had started to form, wetting every smooth surface you can think of, the scooter seat on which Zionax landed as he anxiously waited for Yvette to pick up the call. It was apparent that the call was not going to connect, but then a loud music in complete distorti...

The Prelude to Courage

I have countless memories of my mother pulling me into her lap, regaling me with stories about heroic men; men who found the inner strength to overcome their fears, battled their demons and went on to achieve great feats. Fables of valiant men not only exist in all cultures, but are often an integral part of cultural traditions. So why are these folklore such an intrinsic part of our lives? Most would say that they give us inspiration to soldier on when one is afraid of what lies ahead. I don’t disagree, but this answer paints fear in a very unflattering manner. If fear is such a negative emotion, as indicated in our lore, then why did fear emerge as an emotion in any sentient being at all? The answer is obvious once you give the question a little thought. There is no courage without fear . Fear is the greatest motivator in the universe. Granted, it isn’t a healthy emotion always, and like all the other emotions, it is multi-faceted. But today, I decided to don my optimism like a c...

Zionax Diaries - Part I

21st November, 2012 - 18:00 The memory linked to that day is livid and clear as crystal. Little was it known that, the occurrence of a similar pattern would not repeat itself in this century. The date was a perfect palindrome when written in European Calendar format : 21/11/12; as well as it was the night of no moon, a very frequent syzygy. Not only those conjectures an event as rare as a blue moon, but also it was a day that shed enormous light on few virtues, for Zionax. A day after that was never the same again.  It was dusk, more towards the wailing night than the eventful day. The slight onset of winter had rather mollified the harsh co-aliation of a tropical Sun and humidity of a seashore. Zionax was all set for his group-study at a study center which happened to be in one of the secluded corners of the city of Yukewa. Yukewa was a developed town, however not a city. In the soothing weather expecting the charade of group study to end within an hour, Zionax started from ...
